The Attica region is a peninsula located on the southernmost tip of the Greek mainland. History of Attica in addition to the city of Athens, Attica has much more history to share. The temple of sea god Poseidon, one of the most beautiful excavation sites, is located on a high rock on the southernmost tip of Attica in Sounion. The sea views are breathtaking and the location is perfect for enjoying a spectacular sunset. It is also located along a beautiful route on the west coast that runs from Athens to Sounion and is great for swimming. Another fun place to visit is the town of Kifissiá, located just northeast of Athens and home to stately villas and much greenery. The pine trees of Kifissiá keep the town relatively cool during the hot summer months compared to the sweltering capital.

The original beaches of Attica are sandy with pebblestones, gravel or rocks. Along the Apollo coast you will find numerous man-made, slightly sloping sandy beaches with excellent facilities, such as Glifada, Voula and Vouliagmeni.
